Lollie&Gigi: Logo Resolution

I thought that the typefaces should be script or sans serif for the main name as they would want to show experience and quality in the service. I sketched out a few ideas focusing around the ampersand as it was a collaboration between the two that had created the company.

I decided to design a bespoke ampersand for there logo so using a few varied typefaces I combined different features to manufacture my own.

I looked at a few typefaces I had to see which would generate good ampersands to work with as well as  for the main name.

I transferred this to digital which didn't go as well as I had hoped.

I tried moving around the anchor points but it had created a thick line with points on either side making it hard to move around and keep a fluid movement.

Due to a short time period until the end of the deadline I then took the typefaces in digital and tried manufacturing them together which worked better.

I tried doing the design I had sketched which I thought worked best.

However when I split the ampersand it didn't work as I had hoped so this led to me using different proportions.
I tried a few alternatives trying to include the features that they wanted from the images they had provided.
I decided the proportioned layout didn't work and tried resizing the text to the ampersand. This I felt looked better than it fitting in a tight grid.
I added the service quote to make the logo explain there business and service they were offering.

My submissions to the brief:

I entered my favourite logo and provided various colours ways from the colour palette they suggested.

I then also gave a few variations with details that they had favoured:

Considering I did this brief in just over an hour I'm happy with the result (the coloured logo). I felt it made me make decisions because I didn't have time to faff about and come back to it over and over again. This is a lesson learnt for my other briefs which i've struggled to make decisions with, make a decision and move on.
