Dr.Me: Idea development

We decided we would choose  4 different patterns from nature to begin with. These presented land, sea, sky and us through a tree, a fingerprint, fish scales and wings of a fly. Then we would hand render these patterns and vinyl cut them out to eventually put onto wood which we would then marble over. After that we would peel the vinyl away revealing the the pattern and wood stock behind it.

We spoke with the guys about our idea and they loved it so we cracked on.

I picked a tree stump and a fingerprint as my two patterns.

I used these patterns as references and using a lightbox I went round them.

The fingerprint came out really well
The tree stump was very difficult to do because there were so many parts that could be drawn. Also I wasn't sure how well it would scan and then vinyl out.
I decided to try a tree rings image instead so that we had two alternatives to go with.
This is the third pattern attempt using a different image as reference.

Now we are going to scan them in and image trace them to be able to cut them out of vinyl.
