FASHION: Design Development

I started trying to apply the typeface to the design sketches I had worked out.
I realised that thanks didn't really sound very professional so altered the text to say thank you.

I used a drop shadow to imitate a embossed square.
I tried mixing the sans serif type with the logo typeface which didn't work well.

I'm not particularly keen on the typeface being used on other words. It's not coming out quite as I had hoped, mainly because a persons handwriting is inconsistent and unpredictable. I don't think it has the same characteristics as the logo has.

I started laying out the different formats. I looked at a receipts width to grasp the dimensions of the the receipt holder.

From there I worked out format sizes and tried numerous different front covers for the receipt holder and the mailing list details card.

I added the copy on the inside and instead of a curved section to slot the receipt into place I tried using the square from the branding, just to tie in the atheistic as much as possible.

 Mailing list copy:
The first dimensions I did for the clothing label and perfume sample card came out extremely big to what I was expecting. These dimensions would have to be revised.

I revised the dimensions and thought about a gift card also as a product. This would be more appropriate then a perfume card I thought.

I created a mini mock up of the bag. I think i'm going to make it a lot wider in depth but maintain it's square shape.

I altered the mailing list and receipt holder to be square instead of rectangular. Again the dimensions where out of proportion. It was fine for the mailing list detail card but was too big for the receipt holder.

I decided to change the stock and mock up on grey and off white textured stock so I could really see the design better than just on printer paper.

When fiddling around with the pieces I liked the overlay of the two stocks
I decided that I would have the textured white stock over a square of grey for the receipt holder. This would maintain the logos colour scheme but also allow for the grey stock to be used to add more interest as it was pretty plain before.
I tested out grey for the front and the inside:

I wasn't massively keen on the body copy being on the grey but knew I wanted to use both stocks
I prefer the logo also on the off white
I test printed some fashion images I got offline with the overlay I had sketched in my designs. They printed pretty badly on the printer so I would have to work around with the opacity a bit more I think and also test it downstairs on the digital printers.
I much prefer the body copy being on the white therefore I think I'll have to create a cover for the receipt holder.

I re did my sketches of my ideas after playing around with stocks and imagery.

I think i'm going to test black stock as well as grey to see which works best with the branding and overall image concept of the brand.
