Typeface: Creation

I found an old note I had kept from when I was younger were I had redesigned the alphabet to create a secret language. I thought that was would be interesting to make digital. The letter forms were made up from rearranging the lines that form the standard english alphabet letterforms.

I recreated these symbols digitally. I altered the line cap and corner to form a curved edge as the font is playful and fun in nature and therefore I think having a smooth edge enhances this personality.

To demonstrate the typeface I did a few close ups of the letterforms so you could see the detail and form of the shapes.

I'm really pleased with how the typeface looks all these years on as a digital form. This is something different to what I normally do as I tend to work more visually with images rather than typography. I think creates a healthy balance between the two as there more like symbols than letterforms.
