Posh Nosh: Photo Editing

Although I thought the photos had a good basis I felt that they needed to be edited in order to give a stronger impression of rustic food photography. However not being very familiar with photoshop or editing food photography I looked online for some guidance of the kind of effects applied to enhance the images.

I found these two really useful video tutorials on youtube as well as a webpage going step by step with applying blurs effectively.

My before and after images:

I applied the same effects to all the images however I feel that some need tweaking slightly as the blurring area is made obvious other editing layers. However already I feel they look much more improved from the originals.

Working with the one I was most please with I started to experiment with the layout of the information and branding.

I sketched out a few layout options to trail as well as deciding on the rough information that needed to be applied. I'd thought of the phrase 'treat yourself' as it works with the ironic nature as well as the Selfridges brand.

I then asked for some feedback and it was suggested that the shop at selfridges food hall was removed and the phrase just had the logo following. This I then did and I added artificial steam to make the appearance of hot beans.
