As a starting point I listed the key words in the function and style that her branding had to portray:
- clean
- professional
- traditional/classic
- food
- female
- calm
- photography
I started off looking at how other photography branding is approached. Although they all varied massively in style the key way people made a logo was using the initials. Therefore I did not want to go down the route and create something more unique.
I looked as visuals and icons for food for inspiration. My key concern was to not do cliche photography branding and not do cliche food.
I also looked at photography of food. The main thing that stuck out to me was the textures and patterns that were within the items of food or how it was displayed.
During my sketches I expanded upon the visuals to photography icons either the shape of the camera as a whole or aspects.
I looked at the form created by a person using a camera as I considered transforming the letter 'K' into an image.
A key photo of Louise's was the whisk mixing that I felt inspired by. This led me to look at a form of a whisk.
As soon as I had seen this image I instantly thought of the marbling effect I had used for another project. I discussed this idea of using this pattern technique when we had the initial discussion and we went through her photographs. She was very keen on the idea. I tried the whisk shape as I felt it could be made similar to a location icon as food photography is often on location. I did this over her photograph in the mean time as I hadn't done the marbling yet however it didn't do what I was after.
This led me to digitally create some of my other sketches
I made this simple icon which combined a lens and a apple leaf.
Although I felt it was a strong image it wasn't her and it didn't express her personality to me at all.
