Posh Nosh: Development

I decided to go back to the drawing board and go beyond my original sketches for the packaging. After looking at my research booklet I started looking at using imagery and creating a personality of the concept like that of novelty/funny packaging. I started by thinking what is posh portrayed as and I came up with things such as a task, top hot, chronicle, bow tie etc. I tired applying these originally to the food to create characters but decided this wasn't the type of imagery I was going for.

I also tried applying items as a shape. There Selfridges range at the moment have a slanted rectangle which has the 'S' symbol in. I looked at heinz and they have a shape which all there text goes within and is recognisable as theres. Therefore I thought my text could be surrounded by a shape which was inspired by an item seen as posh such as a crown or bow tie. This could become a feature of the packaging like an added item which is attached.

I then thought of a large posh man who could be the figure for the brand which led to the idea of a butler.

I did some research into illustration for the kind of posh butler image. I thought that the man carrying the tray was the type of illustration I was going for, kind of monopoly style but really simple and not very detailed.

I then played around with the layout seeing how the illustration could work in place with the text as well as using a shape to incase the text keeping it the key focus.
