To begin with we decided to paper prints until we could understand the process and see how the colours would come out. We did some experimented and discovered how the inks worked with the water and each other. We could create either bright bold tones or pastel tones depending on how many prints we did of the same inks. We tried different techniques in moving the inks to create patterns.
From this we could see what inks we wanted to use colour wise. We really like the pastel tones that had been created on the second print after the majority of ink had been pulled away.
We transferred the vinyl to the wood sheets we had cut out. This was tricky because some of the vinyl didn't stick as well as others. Especially the yellow that was used to cut out the fish scales.
We did a sample of wood to see how the ink would come out. We decided that only bold colours would work on the wood as it didn't absorb it the same as paper. The pastels tone weren't as effected as it had been on paper.

We started off picking 3-4 colours use one as the main base which spread out across the water and then used two others as strong colours to maintain bold on the print. Between printing the wood we took the excess ink off by making prints.
